Britvic

Leading soft drinks company modernizes its IT systems and improves its customer experience with Boomi

Business goals

With a history stretching back more than a century, leading soft drinks company Britvic heavily relies on legacy IT solutions to connect with partners, many of which also use older systems. However, its customers and partners in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector were demanding more engagement.

The company wanted to improve its technology integrations to increase automation in its supply chain processes, grant more oversight and transparency for partners, and automate a digital customer engagement platform across the enterprise.

Integration Challenges

SAP is central to Britvic’s IT infrastructure for the company’s financial, manufacturing, and supply chain systems. The company needed a way to connect its SAP data with other systems. But with 140 legacy interfaces, many which were one-offs and could not be reused or repurposed, this was particularly challenging.

Electronic data interchange (EDI) is also used by many of Britvic’s customers but emerging FMCG players are moving away from it due to high costs.

How Boomi Helped

Now, Britvic uses Boomi to connect data from applications, often SAP-native, to third-parties and other internal IT systems.

One example is the company’s Retail Execution order creation interface, which integrates orders from customers, wholesalers, and other partners coming in via phone, email, or online portals. Britvic needed various portals to link to a single order creation interface, which would become a digital foundation for later reuse and extension.

Results

Thusfar, the Boomi Enterprise Platform has transformed Britvic’s IT systems by:

  • Speeding up data transfer and improving data quality
  • Increasing automation throughout customer interactions
  • Encouraging IT teams to consider integration by default
  • Reducing development time with a low-code model

Britvic will continue to extend Boomi integration into employee data, field servicing, and asset management as it continues executing on its digital transformation initiatives.

With Boomi we’ve built these interfaces and sub-processes which decouple everything, allowing us to deploy one sub-process without impacting the whole integration layer.
