Low-code, cloud-based iPaaS capabilities from Boomi enable Native Union to rapidly shift from B2B to direct ecommerce, drop order processing from three days to one, and expand globally.
Native Union designs stylish technology accessories fashioned to empower the modern work-from-anywhere lifestyle. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the company’s business was B2B, with its products being sold through Apple stores, major consumer electronics stores, lifestyle retailers, and department stores.
Native Union had strong ambitions of increasing its ecommerce footprint. To this end, in 2017 it embarked on a digital transformation initiative with a strong focus on technology improvements and process automation.
Native Union struggled with duplication of work across its teams. With an ecosystem of more than 10 different applications, none of it connected, each business function was working in its own silo.
Employees had to manually process and replicate orders from Shopify, which would then be compiled into a spreadsheet and emailed to the fulfillment warehouse at the end of each day.
The result was low flexibility, poor scalability, and no ability to easily draw on its data to power accurate decisions.
How Boomi Helped
With the Boomi AtomSphere Platform, Native Union was able to connect all its core applications and automate the previously manual processes.
The company’s Microsoft Dynamics ERP is now connected to Shopify and its multicurrency payment gateway processor. Payments are reconciled and orders are received in an automated manner.
Native Union’s warehouse management system is also integrated. As soon as an order is received, Boomi sends the information to the warehouse and updates the status of the order every five minutes in Microsoft Dynamics, delivering real-time insights on the status of every order.
With the Boomi AtomSphere Platform in place, Native Union’s order processing time has dropped from three days to one. Plus, the low-code nature of the Boomi AtomSphere Platform enabled the company to get to market faster without requiring additional technical resources.
Native Union was also able to deploy a new international fulfillment warehouse completely remotely within four weeks — something that Merzougui says previously would have included several site visits, training, and a lot of new procedures.
