CDF overhauls manual corporate card reconciliation process for 293 Catholic schools with Boomi-integrated framework

Catholic Development Fund (CDF) provides financial solutions to Catholic schools, parishes, aged care, healthcare, and social service providers. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), which operates 293 schools in the state of Victoria, Australia, is one of CDF’s customers.
CDF wanted to create uniformity across MACS’ credit card reconciliation processes, with the ultimate goals of alleviating administrative burdens from staff and improving efficiency across the entire network of schools.
Integration Challenges
Bookkeeping can be complex for a single business, not to speak of 293 organizations operating multiple, different environments. MACS previously relied on legacy processes – including completely manual reconciliation of credit card statements. As a result, its cohort of schools needed up to 90 days to reconcile simple purchase transactions.
How Boomi Helped
To automate and streamline MACS’ Corporate Card reconciliation, CDF and MACS partnered with Atturra, an Australian advisory and IT solutions provider, to implement Boomi’s integration platform as a service (iPaaS). Atturra used Boomi to connect CDF’s and MACS’ core systems, including banking, ERP platforms, FlexiPurchase expense management, AWS Secure File Transfer, and Microsoft SharePoint. This integration cross-checks financial data against different ERP platforms, delivers reconciled information via APIs, and ensures accurate posting to general ledgers
Results
Within three months of implementing Boomi, CDF significantly improved MACS’ transaction reconciliation speed across all schools. Jukka Rinta, Executive Manager, Product at CDF, noted that transactions compared against the ledger within the same month increased by 80 percent. This connected data framework has saved hundreds of hours in manual bookkeeping, allowing schools to focus on education and enhancing governance. Additionally, Boomi’s scalability facilitates easier onboarding of new schools for MACS. The process is being assessed for CDF’s broader customer base.
