Ducks Unlimited Canada
Premier nonprofit conservation organization safeguards Canada’s threatened wetlands; enhancing fundraising with Boomi by driving meaningful impact through a 360-degree perspective of individual and organizational donors.
Business goals
DUC (Ducks Unlimited Canada), a nonprofit environmental organization conserved 6.2M wetland acres and influenced 244M acres through 14,000 habitat projects, protecting fragile ecosystems.
With 400+ employees and $152.2M CAD revenue in 2024, the company leverages the Boomi Enterprise Platform since 2016 to power fundraising, conservation, and landowner partnerships for safeguarding Canada’s wetlands.
Integration Challenges
Pre-2016, DUC needed a flexible platform to connect its legacy Software AG Adabas system with new Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce cloud applications.
The company chose Boomi for its ease, affordability, and any-to-any connectivity with drag-and-drop tools, reducing reliance on scarce Adabas specialists. It later adopted Boomi Data Hub to maintain golden records of donors, partners, employees, landowners, and vendors, powering marketing and fundraising events like banquets, golf tournaments, and Duck and Run.
How Boomi Helped
With Boomi Data Hub, DUC gains a unified 360° constituent view to personalize donor engagement, while Boomi connects Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and DonorDrive for seamless campaign execution. Boomi also integrates ESRI GIS, land management, finance, and analytics, aggregating data to inform conservation programs.
As IT director Andrew Pratt notes, Boomi forms the foundational layer capturing field data that drives management, and habitat decisions, serving as a key backend enabler of data flows that advance wetlands conservation.
Results
Boomi Data Hub gave DUC a unified 360° constituent view, allowing personalized donor engagement and use of best-of-breed cloud apps without integration issues. Andrew Pratt states Boomi is the foundational layer capturing field data that drives management and habitat decisions, enabling data flows crucial to wetlands conservation.
DUC maintains a lean integration function with only one part-time Boomi developer. Moving forward, DUC will leverage Boomi’s API management and automation to streamline processes, building on the “outstanding” reliability seen over its10-year experience.
