In 2018, French opthalmic optics company, Essilor, and Italian luxury eyewear manufacturer, Luxottica, joined forces to create EssilorLuxottica. Today, EssilorLuxottica designs, manufactures, and distributes ophthalmic lenses, frames, and sunglasses.
With bottlenecks arising from a combination of supply-chain disruptions in 2020, the company needed to achieve greater efficiency in its customer processing platforms. EssilorLuxottica believed this could be realized through ERP modernization and real-time integration of customer orders in its Next Generation (NG) Order to Cash processing platform.
EssilorLuxottica AMERA receives 70,000 – 80,000 orders every day. The company needed to handle higher data payloads and enable real-time, asynchronous, automated data flows. The company also needed to enhance NG’s order processing performance, requiring a service-level agreement (SLA) that would oversee asynchronous data integration at unprecedented speeds.
The key challenge lay in unifying data formats and improving data integration across internal applications, which meant existing middleware and customized services would need to be replaced.
How Boomi Helped
With the Boomi platform, EssilorLuxottica AMERA quickly and easily integrated internal applications and customer orders from a variety of channels in real time, unlocking significant efficiencies and savings.
Bringing integration in-house allowed the company to centrally manage data for greater transparency, seamless data-sharing, and frictionless workflows. The Boomi platform also provided added benefits: Boomi API Management enabled the company to unify applications monitoring into a single interface, and Boomi B2B/EDI Management simplified electronic data interchange transactions with partners and customers.
Through collaboration with Boomi’s Customer Success and Support teams, EssilorLuxottica was able to identify performance degradation factors, including the network file system protocol (NFS) and implement the necessary fixes. This enabled the company to reduce costs, optimize its data integration infrastructure, and achieve its goal of a 30-second end-to-end order processing SLA.
Using the Boomi platform also helped EssilorLuxottica AMERA simplify file sharing, resulting in a fourfold increase in operational efficiency.
