Boomi Enterprise Platform

Sean Collins

Our 2023 roadmap mission continues to be focused on:

  • Productivity and Time-to-Value: being the fastest and easiest way to get meaningful outcomes done.
  • Continue to Innovate: solve incumbent problems using new and innovative approaches,
  • Be Open & Neutral: ensuring our platform is easy to deliver within an ecosystem of partners and applications
  • Be Market Focused: proactively track market and solicit feedback as a key driver to roadmap decisions

We also had three major announcements this past quarter that you will want to check out.

  • Integration Quick Start: With this all-new wizard you can get started creating your integration processes with just a few simple questions. This feature is available to all accounts and we’ll be continuing to enhance, bringing even more intelligence and recommendations to make it easier than ever before.
  • Bridge Mode: A new process mode has been introduced for Integrations called Bridge. This mode of execution provides low latency-like performance with more granular process logging.
  • Flow Co-Design: This feature allows you to collaborate in real-time with other users on the same flow. A shared cursor view lets you know when and where other users are in a flow. This helps reduce overwriting errors and promotes collaboration across your teams.

Below are the service specific roadmaps and recent delivery highlights. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Platform

Dana Burkart

With the July release, we’re excited to announce the launches of Spaces and Boomi Labs! Spaces is designed to help customers manage their Boomi Enterprise platform usage at scale by creating a simplified portal where users can interact with managed integrations. Boomi Labs is a workbench for Boomi developers to access products used to build, manage, share, and publish Boomi assets. To learn more about Spaces and Boomi Labs, go to this page.

Boomi is engaging with select customers and partners for an Early Access program for Bundles—where users can create and package multi-product solutions in an easy-to-use UI. From there, users can also share Bundles to any account on the Platform. If you are interested in joining the program, you can sign up here.

To further our customers’ operational security, we have launched a temporary elevated access feature. While in the past Boomi support personnel could only be granted access across the board, support access can now be granted on a temporary basis to only the support staff necessary to carry out a task. Under this model, even if access is not manually revoked, it will expire in a configurable amount of time. For more information, see the documentation.

Recent Delivery Highlights:

  • Boomi Labs
  • Spaces
  • Bundles (Early Access)
  • Temporary Elevated Access for support

Integration

Joel Alonzo

Within the Integration service, we continue to focus efforts around two key areas of investment: delivering an awesome user experience and providing robust lifecycle management to help teams scale their use of Boomi.

Last quarter we released our new quick start concept, to help novice users quickly create integrations in a matter of clicks. We have continued to enhance this new offering and recently added support for Boomi suggest for auto mapping, so that quick start users have one less thing to worry about. We also continue to infuse quick start with additional recommendations, enabling the system with automatic suggestions on connection, and related record types. These two enhancements provide subtle but highly useful functionality to help quick start users attain value as fast as possible.

To help with lifecycle management, we’re continuing our efforts to provide robust APIs in an effort to provide customers with the tools necessary for additional automation. We are continuing to work with our early access customers on refining APIs for component creation, as we prepare for general availability. Additionally, we continue work on new APIs that will enable you to easily find the differences of what changed between versions of processes and components. We’re excited to get these capabilities into your hands soon!

Recent Delivery Highlights

  • Based on your feedback, we increased the default account library storage limit to 200MB for all accounts.
  • In an improvement to user self-service, we added a new option in account settings to allow administrators to enable/disable component locking without having to contact Boomi support.

API Management

Calvin Robbins

We are delighted to share some exciting updates and improvements to our platform, all designed to make your API management tasks easier and more efficient. To begin with, our team has been working diligently on a significant leap forward – the ability to configure query parameters on an API endpoint. This enhancement will provide you with a new level of control over your API requests, enabling you to tailor your endpoint queries to your exact requirements.

In response to your feedback, we have also introduced the ability to customize the event file rollover time for Gateways and Atoms. Instead of the previous static one-day setting, you can now set it for 24 hours or less, with the new default time set at six hours. This change offers you additional flexibility and precision in managing your event files.

On top of these new features, we have upgraded the DeployedApiCallSummary API to facilitate better analysis and tracking of your API usage over time. This enhancement supports querying by month and year, making it much easier for you to monitor and manage your API usage trends.

Further enhancing our platform, we have added new Gateway and Atom container properties: ‘com.boomi.container.apigateway.metrics.reportNotFound’ and ‘com.boomi.container.sharedServer.http.metrics.reportNotFound’. These new additions will allow you to specify whether 404 errors are captured for metrics. By default, this behavior is set to false, providing you more control over your metrics data.

As always, your valuable feedback is the driving force behind our improvements. We look forward to your continued journey in API management with us. If you have any questions or wish to share some insights, feel free to visit our API Management Product Forum. For early access to future enhancements, consider joining our APIM Early Access Forum at https://boomi.to/apimearlyaccess.

Atom Runtime

Adam Arrowsmith

We continue to invest in providing you the most scalable and secure Atom runtime platform possible.

Support for running in containerized infrastructure continues with the ability for integration process executions within Atom clouds to scale up and down leveraging Kubernetes controllers. These enhancements will first be enabled in Boomi’s hosted public Atom Clouds, which will enable those clouds to scale more efficiently and handle increased execution traffic. Subsequently the elastic execution capabilities, Helm charts, and reference architectures will be made available for private Atom clouds, so you can take advantage of Kubernetes-based scaling as well for your self-managed runtimes.

We’re also continuing improvements to optimize the use of the shared file system for clustered Molecule and private cloud runtimes, to eliminate any potential bottlenecks to performance and scaling.

Regarding security, starting this quarter, we’re making some foundational improvements to be able to decouple shared third party libraries in the Atom runtime from connectors and custom scripts running within integration processes. This separation will enable Boomi to update those libraries and apply security patches without version dependencies that could interfere with integration processes. Look for more details on this in the coming months.

For those of you running your Boomi Atoms in a Kubernetes environment (or thinking about it), we’ll be releasing an updated version of our Redhat Docker image to support the latest versions of Redhat OS and Kubenetes cgroups. This update will also support the SAP JCo connector.

Recent Delivery Highlights:

  • Bridge Mode is now generally available. This is a new process execution mode option that provides low latency-like performance while still capturing process logs for high volume transactions.

Flow

Carolyn Musa

We are thrilled to announce the latest updates and upcoming features in Flow, following a successful Q2. Our focus has been on enhancing the user experience, strengthening cohesive platform efforts, and expanding Flow’s functionality.

One of our additions is the “Edit and Continue” feature, allowing users to make real-time edits to a flow during the design phase. This feature saves time and improves the rapid prototyping build experience.

In response to customer feedback, we have made significant improvements to the Flow Auditing page. This includes the ability to archive system audit trails, displaying deprecated users’ email addresses, first names, and last names, providing better context. Additionally, event types have been refined for more natural language reading, and quick filtering options have been introduced for more efficient auditing.

The Connectors page now features a list view, aligning with the UX consistency of the Flow home page.

We also introduced the “Relative Date Operation” feature, allowing users to perform operations based on relative dates rather than specific calendar dates. This eliminates the need for manual code computation and enhances workflow efficiency.

Looking ahead, we have exciting features in progress. We are working on grid support in pages, which will allow for easier row editing, improved filtering, and more. Soon, you will be able to run flows in your preferred language with our Flow Translation GUI. Additionally, we are developing a component suggestion feature that recommends the most suitable component based on the value you are working with, making the build experience faster and easier.

We are committed to continuously improving Flow to exceed your expectations. Stay tuned for these exciting updates and features that will enhance your Flow experience.

Webinar Q&A

Thanks so much for your questions! While we weren’t able to respond to them during the webinar, we wanted to answer them here.

Questions Boomi Response Assigned to
Regarding the planned enhancements for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 365 connector. Will the improvements include the capability to set Environment Extensions for all the OAuth 2.0 parameters? Currently the extensible OAuth 2.0 properties are limited, for example, with respect to the HTTP Connector. A roadmap deliverable this year is enhancements to the OAuth framework to support environment extensions for OAuth 2.0 parameters. Once that is available the Dynamics CRM 365 connector can leverage it. Madhav SBSS
Does Flow have any capabilities around Push Notifications? From Enterprise Systems to the Front End ? No, not yet but welcome to share this idea in Boomiverse community: community.boomi.com/s/ideas Carolyn Musa
What’s the timeline to support JDK 17? No definitive timeline at this time. We are planning a deep evaluation toward the end of this year, and will map out a timeline from there. However we are anticipating some major, non-backward compatible changes, perhaps most notably to the custom scripting engines such as Javascript. Adam Arrowsmith
Two-way pip RosettaNet ( ex 3A4 transaction) : Will Boomi enable Two-way PIP in future. Currently it is implemented and MDNs are failing at the Trading Partner end. We do support two-way PIP. We would love to connect with you to further understand your request and address this issue. Joel Alonzo
