More Than a Move: Why Boomi’s Recognition in API Management Matters for Your Agentic Future

It’s not every day you get to write a post like this. When Gartner® released its 2025 Magic Quadrant™ for API Management1 last week, the entire Boomi team felt an incredible sense of pride and validation. Seeing Boomi positioned as a Leader is a milestone for us — one that we’ve been driving towards with immense focus and passion. For me, personally, it’s a powerful acknowledgment of the tireless work, strategic bets, and deep commitment of our product, engineering and supporting teams.

This isn’t just about our position on the axes. I feel we made one of the most significant improvements in positioning in the Magic Quadrant that I’ve seen in fourteen years of leading these evaluations. And I think that kind of move doesn’t happen by accident. In my opinion, It’s the result of a deliberate, company-wide commitment to reimagining what API management can and should be for our customers. As Ed Macosky shared in his blog, we at Boomi believe this recognition is a testament to our vision. I want to double down on that and share more about my take on the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ behind this journey, and what it means for our customers.

A Vision Realized: From Digital to Agentic

A few years ago, we looked at the market and saw a gap. While many vendors were focused on the technical plumbing of APIs, we saw a future where APIs are the foundational fabric for a new kind of business transformation: the shift from digital to agentic. This is a world where AI agents securely and autonomously execute complex business processes, and that world runs on APIs.

Our new vision, which emphasizes API discovery, security, and agentic AI, is what truly makes us a trusted industry player. At Boomi, we believe that a modern API management solution must do more than just manage API traffic. It needs to provide the secure, discoverable, and governable backbone for the AI-powered enterprise of tomorrow.

This is also why I feel our position as the only vendor named a Leader in both the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management and the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS)2 is so critical. True transformation doesn’t happen in a silo. It requires a unified platform that seamlessly connects everything, from enterprise applications to AI agents. I believe that our recognition as a Leader in both reports validates our unique ability to deliver that integrated platform for today’s needs and tomorrow’s ambitions.

The Strategy Behind the Surge: Integrated, Federated, and Open

A vision is only as good as the strategy to execute it. Over the past two years, we have been laser-focused on building out a robust, integrated, and well-rounded platform. We’ve made strategic acquisitions, like Mashery and APIIDA, and woven their powerful capabilities into the Boomi Enterprise Platform to create a truly comprehensive offering.

One of our core differentiators, and something I’m particularly proud of, is our strength in federated API management. We understand that modern enterprises are complex. You have APIs running on different cloud platforms, managed by various third-party gateways from vendors like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and MuleSoft, and built by disparate teams.

We’re confident that this agnostic, customer-first approach is designed specifically to handle the complex, real-world scenarios our customers face every day. Our goal is to solve complexity, not create more of it.

To that end, we’re continuing to execute on our ambitious roadmap, with recent releases delivering enhanced support for multicloud deployments and an even more seamless, AI-assisted user experience.

For Everyone, Not Just a Few

We envision a future where business technologists and even business leaders can safely and securely participate in creating agentic outcomes. To achieve this, API management can’t be a niche, code-heavy discipline. It must be an accessible, intuitive part of a unified platform that drives business value. By focusing on business outcomes, we empower IT to become a more strategic partner to the business, accelerating innovation and driving real ROI. Our expanding global footprint and strategic partnerships with giants like ServiceNow and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are further proof of our commitment to meeting customers where they are and helping them succeed on a global scale.

What Comes Next

Boomi’s recognition as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management is an incredible honor to us, but it’s not a destination. It’s a signpost on our journey. For us, it validates that our vision for an integrated, AI-driven, and agentic future is resonating and that our ability to execute on that vision is stronger than ever.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the entire Boomi team, our dedicated partners, and most importantly, our customers. You have challenged us, inspired us, and partnered with us every step of the way. We are more committed than ever to building the platform that will power your business today and prepare you for the incredible opportunities that lie ahead. The future is agentic, and we’re building it — together.
