Everything You Want to Know About the November 2024 Boomi Integration and Automation Platform Release

Published Nov 9, 2024

This article recaps the Boomi Platform November 2024 release and highlights recently delivered product features. For a full list of what’s included in the release, see the detailed release notes.

Let’s take a look at the highlights in this release.

API Management

We have introduced significant improvements in how you manage, secure, and govern the administrative, consumer, and runtime API experiences:

mTLS and Client Certificate Authentication

  • You can now configure mTLS for mutual authentication between an API client and the API Gateway, leveraging the certificate store already embedded in the Boomi Enterprise Platform
  • As part of this client connection, you can also validate the distinguished name extracted from the client certificate, to authenticate against that user
  • Client certificates can also be passed as a header if SSL termination has already taken place in a load balancer
  • Client cert authentication can be configured for every API on a gateway, or only enforced on specific APIs

API Management User Roles & Privileges

  • The API Manager – APIs and Applications role allows read/write access to APIs and applications and management of API deployments
  • The API Management – Gateway privilege enables user to configure API Gateways and can be granted to any role

API Metrics

  • API Metrics is now enabled for all accounts with API Management entitlements, for access to metrics through the API Dashboard and/or platform metrics API

Boomi AI

Boomi Scribe can now generate complete process documentation directly in the integration canvas. You can generate documentation for a process using the AI button in the bottom right corner of the canvas.

  • Boomi Scribe’s complete process documentation now includes a Process Schedule section for deployed processes scheduled to run automatically. This section presents the schedule in a table format, detailing the day, time, and frequency of process executions.
  • Boomi Scribe’s complete process documentation now includes more detailed summaries of subprocesses associated with process call steps, found in the “Process Steps and Functions” section.
  • We’ve improved Boomi Scribe error messages within the platform with more detail and help documentation links so that you can review important considerations about functionality and limitations that cause errors.

We’ve also updated the name of HubGen to Hub DesignGen to better reflect the agent’s functionality. Hub DesignGen no longer generates models that exceed Hub’s model size limit.

B2B/EDI

This month we’ve introduced a new advanced option for customers leveraging HL7 profiles that require finer grain control. When the enhanced composites feature is enabled, you’ll be able to completely disable escaping for your choice of all elements or only specific elements, allowing you to process messages exactly as received.

Connectivity

This release introduces significant connectivity improvements, fixes, and new connectors. Key updates:

New Connectors

  • The Amazon Selling Partner Connector is now available in Tech Preview, enabling seamless integrations to Amazon Selling Partner APIs. Please share your feedback in the tech preview forum
  • We’re also excited to introduce a new Inverbis Analytics – Partner Connector.

Enhancements and New Features

  • The Boomi DataHub Connector is now Generally Available. New integrations should use this updated connector, while existing users of the previous Boomi DataHub can continue with legacy support
  • The Stripe Connector is now Generally Available. We have added new actions such as Execute, Retrieve, List Line Items, and Update Lines among other supported objects like Customers, Products, Prices, Invoices, and Payment Intents.
  • The Salesforce Platform Events (SFPE) Connector has been enhanced with a new persistence feature, allowing the replay ID to be saved and retrieved between Atom shutdown events.

Deprecated Connectors

The following connectors will move to Deprecated status, with end-of-support scheduled for May 2025:

  • HTTP Patch Client
  • LDAP (Legacy)

Legacy Connectors

The following connectors have been renamed as Legacy connectors:

  • Database
  • Disk
  • FTP
  • JMS
  • SFTP

Retired Connectors

The legacy MQTT Connector is being retired. For continued support, users should migrate to the updated MQTT Connector.

For more information about the newly renamed Boomi Connectors please review this community article & FAQs.

Event Streams

This release includes enhancements to the Event Streams connector listen operation that offer greater flexibility and control over concurrent process executions:

  • Configurable Concurrent Execution Limits: Users can now define their own maximum concurrent executions in Transacted Acknowledged mode using the new custom container property:
    com.boomi.container.eventStreams.maxConcurrentExecutions.
  • Default Settings: If no custom property is defined, the connector will enforce standard limits of a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 5.
  • Connector Behavior: In listening mode, the Event Streams connector will prioritize the custom property to determine execution limits.
  • Performance Recommendations: When the number of consumers approaches 60, users should be mindful of the MCE values set to avoid potential message loss or forwarding to the Dead Letter Queue (DLQ).

Flow

This release includes two significant enhancements to Boomi Flow that will elevate your build experience:

  1. Flow History: Users can now view and compare previous versions of a Flow with ease. This feature provides access to release and environment information for each flow version, along with details about any modifications made. This capability enables better tracking and management of changes, ensuring your integrations are always up-to-date and well-documented.
  2. Flow Dashboard: Our improved Insights Dashboard is here! This upgraded page offers detailed insights for each flow launched within your tenant, featuring metrics on usage, errors, and anomalies. You can easily drill down into specific flows to examine their comprehensive status, empowering you to optimize performance and swiftly address any issues.

These updates enhance your ability to monitor and manage your Flows effectively, driving greater efficiency and success in your automation initiatives.

Integration

We’re continuing the General Availability rollout of our Branch and Merge feature, which provides native capabilities to develop in parallel with ease, and also the ability to hotfix production deployments. This rollout will continue through the coming months. Be on the lookout for an in-platform notification once your account is eligible to enable this feature.

Included in this release are several enhancements to the build experience, including an updated look for line segments, now displayed in a darker gray, and a green arrow indicating connections between steps. Tabs have also been improved, allowing you to scroll through them with your mouse, trackpad, or keyboard. These updates are part of the first wave of enhancements to tabs, with future releases bringing features like rearranging and pinning.

Boomi DataHub

  • The Boomi DataHub connector is now Generally Available. It connects seamlessly with your Boomi DataHub cloud repositories and accelerates integration development for data synchronization & management.

Platform

We are excited to announce the launch of Secrets Manager. This product launch will allow:

  • Customer Secrets to be retrieved from your AWS Secrets Manager
  • Authentication Data for Secrets Manager can be entered in the Platform UI
  • Support the ability to rotate secrets — initiate rotation from Secrets Manager and Boomi processes to automatically intake the new secret

To turn on the Secrets Manager please work with your support rep. We plan to make it self-service in the near future.
