We’re thrilled to announce Boomi’s acquisition of Elementary Data, provider of the popular data observability solution that powers workflows and AI agents with reliable data. This acquisition further expands the Active Data Foundation capabilities of the Boomi Enterprise Platform. Elementary Data gives our customers the observability, data quality, governance, and data discovery capabilities they need for delivering trusted data for AI.
Elementary Data has been an impressive company from the start. Founded in 2022, the company began as an open-source project providing data observability for data teams. Co-founders Maayan Salom and Or Avidov are data engineers themselves. They know firsthand the challenges that unreliable data can create for modern data teams. They set out to build a data observability solution that would help deliver trusted data for any type of data application, including AI and BI. Data teams like the approach. Elementary’s open-source project receives over 1.1 million downloads every month, and its Slack community boasts over 4,000 users.
As adoption increased, Maayan and Or grew their team, added features, and launched a cloud solution, Elementary Cloud. The cloud solution provides essential observability features such as anomaly detection, column-level data lineage tracking, data tests, and data health scores, all at enterprise scale.
Boomi is the data activation company. Unlike traditional data platforms focused on data at rest, we’re committed to helping companies make the most of their data, ensure its quality and reliability, and deliver that data quickly and reliably to agents and other IT solutions across the enterprise, securely and at scale. Data observability and data quality are no longer niche capabilities for data engineers. They’re table stakes for any data team undertaking any kind of project involving business data and AI.
The business outcome of any agentic workflow is only as good as the data going into it. AI data needs to be accurate, timely, and complete, regardless of its source. Elementary helps us make data observability available to Boomi customers in a way that’s wholly compatible with the rest of the Boomi Enterprise Platform. Specifically, Elementary offers agent-driven pipeline, data, and context monitoring; column-level lineage, a data catalog, health scores, an MCP server that exposes data context to AI tools and agents, and AI agents that automate data testing, incident triage, governance, and performance optimization across apps, devices, and data — all important features for improving observability and data quality for AI. Elementary also supports a human-in-the-loop mode for complex operational workflows and approvals guiding the stack.
We believe this acquisition will accelerate and streamline the AI transformation work our customers are undertaking today with Boomi Agentstudio, Boomi Data Hub, and other Boomi Enterprise Platform capabilities.
This acquisition demonstrates Boomi’s ongoing support for open-source projects and the developer community at large — a community we directly addressed with our launch of Boomi Companion earlier this year. We intend to continue supporting the Elementary open-source project and the Elementary community as a responsible steward. We have no immediate changes planned for the open-source project itself, including the repository, releases, or how the community uses the project. Maayan and Or will continue leading the Elementary team and will continue to deliver on their roadmap.
Following Lunar.dev, Elementary is Boomi’s latest acquisition, strengthening the Boomi Enterprise Platform with the capabilities enterprises need to deliver trusted data for AI.
I’m excited to welcome the Elementary team to Boomi. I’m looking forward to working with them and the rest of Boomi to bring data observability and reliability capabilities to Boomi customers worldwide.
