University of London College improves data quality, security, and compliance with Boomi, streamlining student and staff onboarding

Established in 1891, Goldsmiths has been a University of London constituent since 1904. As a top UK university for producing business founders and CEOs, it houses 10,000 students and 2,500 staff on a single campus.

The university launched the Defined One Stop Shop (DOSS) program in 2016 to deliver enhanced, cost-effective IT services aligned with its strategic goals. The program would improve student/staff experiences by enriching teaching, learning, and research, while maximizing academic and business benefits from university data.

The DOSS program faced data quality issues from various sources, and burdened staff. Disparate systems hampered information flow, hindering student and staff experiences.

Goldsmiths built an Information Capability Framework to streamline information management and ensure compliance. To achieve seamless data flows, the university sought to connect its systems for smoother onboarding — from prospective student application to creating new accounts, access to student record system (SRS), finance, and identity verification.

Goldsmiths chose Boomi for its transparent pricing and cost control. Its first integration project focused on streamlining student/staff onboarding by integrating core systems with the SRS.

Now, the Boomi platform automates onboarding, creating a unified data view through Master Data Hub. Boomi connects various systems including the university’s SRS, identity and access management, student apps, virtual learning platforms, finance, and email.

Risultati

Goldsmiths gained a comprehensive view of student engagement through the integration and data synchronization provided by the Boomi platform. Students and staff enjoy a secure, easy-to-use experience with single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication.

A self-service student app with QR code scanning empowers students to manage attendance and participation, while a unified view of data boosts efficiency for staff.
