Guaranteed file delivery is a key component of automating file transfers in Boomi’s managed file transfer (MFT) solution. It ensures that any failed file transfers are automatically detected and retried until they are successfully delivered, providing reliability and continuity in data exchange.
Guaranteed File Delivery with Boomi MFT
Two components enable this functionality:
Persistent Storage
- Boomi Managed File Transfer is built on a cloud file system with persistent storage that enables files to be stored until successfully delivered with zero data loss. Retention policies can be defined to delete stored files after a set time period.
Durable Workflows
- The logic of Boomi MFT file exchange workflows is durable during file transfer retries so the system always knows where and when files should be delivered after errors are fixed.
MFT Workflow Demonstration
Here is an example of a file exchange workflow in Boomi where:
- An enterprise continuously pulls files from a partner’s SFTP server and Amazon S3 bucket.
- Uses an integration platform (iPaaS) to process data.
- Returns files back to the SFTP and S3 locations after processing.

If any one of the endpoints goes offline due to a broken connection, Boomi alerts the enterprise and partner of the issue and the system automatically retries the delivery of files once the connection is fixed.
Both the enterprise and partner admins can easily monitor and report the status of failed file transfers from the Alerts dashboard.

Managed File Transfer Ensures Reliable File Delivery
Ensuring files reach their destination without failure is essential to keeping business operations running smoothly. Without a reliable file transfer solution, undetected errors can lead to missed deadlines, SLA breaches, and unnecessary costs. Boomi’s robust managed file transfer (MFT) solution provides automated error detection and retry mechanisms, minimizing disruptions and safeguarding critical business processes.
