Boomi connects people to each other by removing barriers. Our cloud-native platform makes data silos a thing of the past. Our low-code interface throws open the doors of growth, to everyone from the veteran coder to the new liberal arts graduate. Our automation capabilities speed the path from “stuck” to “success.”

But for Disability Employment Awareness Month (#DEAM) this October, Boomi took barrier-breaking even further. While Boomi technology enables customers like The Disability Trust to provide better services to people of all abilities, its employees are equally passionate about creating ability inclusion from within.

Boomi’s diverse-ability employee resource group, Be T.R.U.E., stands for what its acronym means: Be Trusted, Resilient, Unified, and Empowered. Putting these values to work, the Be T.R.U.E. group has celebrated #DEAM in a variety of ways:

  • We’ve broken barriers to imagination around how to interact with tech, by hosting a keyboard navigation challenge.
  • We’ve broken barriers to people discovering what they need in order to do their best work – with an Accessibility Resource Guide for all Boomi employees. Everyone needs help to reach that next level of performance.
  • We’ve broken barriers to the connectivity that drives business growth, issuing a renewed product accessibility statement (VPAT). The results of the recently completed report will be used to connect more people of more abilities to the possibilities that the Boomi platform creates.

Why DEAM Matters

Maybe you’re thinking — that’s great, but why does this DEAM stuff matter to me?

Ability inclusion is about fully realizing everyone’s potential. As Boomi Accessibility Council member Ben Christakis wrote, “Accessibility isn’t just a requirement; it’s about ensuring everyone can achieve their goals and actively contribute to our shared success.”

When we welcome more people into the connected world we’re building, everyone benefits. The list of modern conveniences that came from the disability community is long, but a few include audiobooks, electric toothbrushes, curb cuts, the keyboard, and speech-to-text.

Disability Employment Awareness Month began in the United States in 1945, as a way to recognize the unique perspective and innovation that people of diverse abilities bring to the workforce. Over the years, the movement has grown in inclusion and strength. Today it’s observed more globally than ever, bringing our tapestry of abilities together for economic boon.

Boomi recognizes this value and is working to build on it.

Boomi’s Approach To Inclusive Hiring

Boomi Talent Acquisition Director Amanda Yates describes the company’s approach to attracting, retaining, and developing diversely-abled talent:

“At Boomi, we believe that true innovation stems from the diversity of experiences, thoughts, and abilities within our team. To ensure inclusivity at every stage, we’ve implemented measures to make our application and interview processes accessible to individuals with diverse-abilities.

Our commitment extends beyond processes to proactive training that fosters inclusive communication and equips our team with tools supporting diversity. We actively seek and engage talent from under-represented groups, including neurodiversity and diverse-abilities.

Boomi was recently recognized as an industry leader in providing the flexibility, support, and autonomy needed for all employees to do their best work. We celebrate DEAM with both awareness and action, as we continue to build a workplace that honors inclusivity and accessibility.”

Imagine the Possibilities

This is what makes Boomi a leader in automating human connection, inside and out. Where others see limitation, we see possibility. A common phrase at Boomi is “there are many ways to climb a tree.” We invite you to join us — not just during Disability Employment Awareness Month, but year ’round — in imagining what’s possible when we all have a clear path to connection.
