“Build me a Boomi agent…”

I never imagined typing those words into an AI tool; which is also an agent.

I had asked Claude Cowork, using Boomi Companion’s new bc-agentstudio skill, to build me a Philly Weather Reporter agent in Boomi Agentstudio. I simply wanted to see where I could go.

“Where should the week’s forecast be stored so I can diff against it?”

“Why are we diff’ing…?”, I thought. (‘diff’ means to compare the ‘diff’erence of two versions)

Then I remembered more of my initial prompt…

“Build me a Boomi agent that gives me a daily weather report. On Monday, give me a full week’s report. After that, only provide daily reports & any changes to the full week forecast from Monday.”

In order for the agent to see fluctuations in the weather report from Monday, it needs to store the data and then compare it. Boomi Companion made a few suggestions on where to store, and one was Boomi Data Hub (bc-datahub); another new skill we released recently.

To be clear, this isn’t a use case with much real-world value. But that’s not the point.

I had an idea, I described it, and Boomi Companion handled the rest: the Boomi Enterprise Platform knowledge, the domain expertise, and, most importantly, the building of it. All of it.

As we continue to release more skills (psst…we also released bc-bdi for Boomi Data Integration), the possibilities for what you can build on Boomi are extensive. It’s not about your level of experience with Boomi; it’s about describing what you need.

Stacking Boomi Companion Skills to Build across the Platform

I’ll admit I was only half serious calling that a low-value use case — in an enterprise setting, there are almost certainly more meaningful applications for this pattern. But as an example of skill stacking, it works well.

The way it played out for me is the exact scenario we’d love to see and hear about from the community. These additional skills are great ways to explore use cases that utilize the broader platform that you may have not thought possible.

Most of our customers know us for our powerful integration capabilities, but a powerful combination is Integration + Data Hub. This key combination is how you establish golden records and begin building a trusted data foundation. Add in Agentstudio and now the possibilities expand significantly.

One of the biggest gaps has been knowledge: for example, Data Hub. Data stewardship is a fundamental practice that most core integration teams aren’t accustomed to. Boomi Companion helps bridge that gap.
