2022 Boomi Blue – APJ award recipients announced
Innovation, impact, operational excellence, and customer-centric transformation were key themes in this year’s Boomi Blue Awards for the APJ region, which included nominations across a variety of industries including Government, Financial Services, Charities and NFPs, Retail, Higher Education, Transportation, Healthcare, and Utilities.
Boomi revived the coveted Blue Awards for APJ region customers in 2022 to celebrate the successes of our customers and recognize the passionate individuals behind those key moments.
We were overwhelmed by the variety and number of responses this year. It was also very fulfilling to witness so many purpose driven organizations and passionate individuals relying on our platform to achieve their digital, social, and organizational ambitions. We were impressed with the quality of the responses, and delighted to see how Boomi has been a catalyst to fast-track premium outcomes for our customers across the APJ region.
Nominations were assessed based on the impact, novelty, and quantified values that customers were able to derive for their respective organizations.

The awards listed below highlight achievements in the categories of Impact, transformation, efficiency, and innovation. It was difficult to choose winners from such an outstanding pool of applicants, and we extend our thanks to everyone who submitted a nomination.
Impact Awards
The Australian Red Cross — Social Impact. The Australian Red Cross had 4 days to prepare for a major fundraising telethon to raise much-needed funds in the aftermath of severe flooding in NSW and QLD that left thousands of people without homes. Working with Boomi, Red Cross was able to support 24,000 concurrent web users and raised over $27M for flood affected communities. Through the generosity of the public, the telethon provided more than 66,000 people with cash assistance grants. Read the full story.
The City of Port Phillip — Local Government Impact. The city of Port Phillip made significant improvements in customer experience, simplified its systems landscape from multiple ERP systems down to one, and provided high visibility of customer data. The city was also able to demonstrate significant customer traction, reach, and operational efficiencies over an extended time frame.
Excellence Awards
HESTA — CX and EX Excellence. HESTA accelerated delivery of key strategic projects to improve customer and employee experience. Leveraging a robust and centralized integration architecture framework has helped HESTA gain speed to market for new digital products and acquisitions, deliver valuable customer insights using data, and deliver an improved employee experience. HESTA achieved over 1M in YoY cost optimization and 10X increase in speed to service for its members as part of its member-centric transformation initiatives. Read the case study.
National University of Singapore — CX and EX in Education. NUS has implemented Boomi solutions across its undergraduate admissions system, learning management, and financial systems integration. Through the deft deployment of Boomi’s solutions, NUS has transformed user experience, reduced administration, and increased data accuracy and productivity.
Chemist Warehouse — Omnichannel Excellence. Chemist Warehouse, with the assistance of Ray Business Technologies, made transformative changes in its home delivery capability during the pandemic. The company was able to drastically reduce resolution time, automate manual processes, improve data security, and streamline automation of financial transactions. With the aid of an AI tool it was also able to reduce human intervention by 99%.
JERA — Operational Management Excellence. JERA, one of Japan’s major energy providers, has implemented Boomi as a main component in its Digital Power Plant (DPP) project architecture, which has resulted in the rollout of the production release of a DPP application with a short development lead time. The application integrates various data sources including IoT data and data from SAP, and plays a key role in the optimisation of power plants to reduce environmental impact, along with monitoring to achieve improved availability. Transformation Awards
Baptcare Ltd — Healthcare Transformation. Baptcare is on track to achieve significant operational efficiencies in the healthcare/aged care sector. The company has implemented Boomi Master Data Hub and Boomi Integration solutions that have delivered a “single view of people” and efficiencies in supplier transaction-matching. Additionally, Baptcare was able to save three months of project effort, covering more than 50 project resources and seven temporary data entry staff through a solution to access legacy data from its CRM via APIs. The solutions implemented using Boomi are leading to measurable improvements in frontline staff utilization and engagement.
Scoot Pte Ltd — CX Transformation. With the aid of Boomi, Scoot’s “Customer 360” initiative has streamlined work processes for staff and further empowered customers to self-serve where feasible. The initiative has resulted in more than 50% reduction in average handling time through lesser manual tasks. For example, refund payouts are now 95% automated. On the customer front, 58% of customer queries are now able to be solved via a self-service channel. All in all, these results have surpassed Scoot’s NPS targets. Read more about Scoot and Boomi.
Toowoomba Regional Council — Local Government Transformation. The Council recently experienced a significant increase in workload for customer-facing staff as a result of the breakdown of a custom-built legacy integration of council processes with waste services for the public. With Boomi, the Council was able to create a process flow to resolve the issue, resulting in significant improvements in operational efficiency through integration between multiple key tier one applications. The outcome is significant financial savings, improved security, and a reduction in staff workload.
Efficiency and Operational Management Awards
Dah Chong Hong Limited — Operational Efficiency in Retail. As a major international retailer, DCH has over 200 business applications across Greater China and Southeast Asia, and conducts EDI trade with over 300 business partners. DCH established Boomi as a standard for its enterprise integration, with support from Laputa Technologies, which has since become a significant accelerator for its digital transformation. This has resulted in lower overheads as well as significant maintenance and implementation cost savings, and the ability for new developers to be productive within one month.
Edith Cowan University — Automation Excellence. Edith Cowan University used Boomi to help transition between two different LMS systems in a very efficient and seamless manner. The project resulted in financial and labour savings by automating several processes and integrating seamlessly with legacy systems, reducing workloads and improving user and employee experience. Fremantle Ports — Modernization. As part of a major ERP project, Fremantle Ports achieved a reliable and repeatable data migration with Boomi’s assistance. This included new integrations with Oracle, resulting in an error-free transfer of data to the HR system. The team was also able to implement complex mapping and data transformations to interact with Oracle APIs when building integrations. With Boomi, Fremantle Ports’ small team, including non-developers, has been able to create integration processes to drive efficiencies, resolve issues, and help the project run smoothly.
HAECO — Productivity Excellence. HAECO Group is one of the world’s leading aircraft engineering and maintenance service providers, providing a comprehensive range of solutions encompassing almost every aspect of aircraft services and support. The company comprises 16 operating companies and employs around 15,000 staff worldwide. HAECO set up an enterprise integration platform that leveraged the Boomi platform’s low-code development capabilities to connect a variety of different systems and to implement new systems including a core maintenance system, procurement system, and learning management system, with a very aggressive timeline.
Innovation Awards
Coles Supermarkets — Innovation. The Coles integration team standardized its Boomi interfaces development using a pattern-based build. By using Azure DevOps release pipelines and Boomi’s DevOps Center (Boomi Integration and Flow) test automation platform, Coles was able to ensure any new development group could follow a consistent development framework as well as adhere to strict quality and security standards. This has widened the functionality of Coles’ Boomi implementation while adhering to security best practices within the Boomi platform deployed in an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environment.
WLTH — CX and EX Innovation. WLTH, with the assistance of Boomi partner Atturra, created a seamless customer and employee experience in the form of the WLTH Single Customer Portal. As well as providing a unified experience through data-driven capabilities, successful partner integrations, and “golden record” synchronization and maintenance, the project has also helped to position WLTH for future growth and international expansion.
