In recent years, the citizen developer movement has gained popularity across industries. Businesses are constantly trying to find new ways to build and scale faster. Last year, Gartner estimated that “By 2025, 70% of new applications developed by organizations will use low-code or no-code technologies.1”
Boomi Flow, Boomi’s low-code application development and workflow automation service, continues to enable the low-code movement. We have recently released a couple of new features to help citizen developers — people who have little to no coding experience — become even more productive.
The bread and butter of every low-code platform is its visual interface. This lets developers drag and drop out-of-the-box components when designing a new page, instead of writing code. We have revamped the page builder entirely to make the experience even more intuitive for novice developers to get started, providing easier access to components and configuration panels.
While Boomi Flow already comes with many pre-built page components, we know there are instances where the user interface of your application may need to be customized to include things like a signature pad or QR code generator. In the past, you would have needed a highly skilled developer to spend their time adding a new player, editing the metadata, and writing custom code. With the launch of Components Manager, citizen developers can now upload these custom components once and reuse them across multiple pages without ever having to write lines of code.
Behind every application is a great process. With Boomi Flow Environments, you have precise control over how you manage your releases throughout the application lifecycle management stages: development, test, and production. As customer and business demands evolve, staying agile will be key to success. Let’s say your developers need to make changes to an existing flow that is currently live. They can now more seamlessly iterate the flow in a different version without impacting end customers who may be using the app.
These are some of only a handful of tools Boomi offers to boost developer productivity. As you are considering what app to build next and which low-code application development vendor can help you get there, know that Boomi Flow can also help with your data integration, security, and multicloud runtime capability needs.
