St Laurences College

Brisbane-based secondary college enhances the experience of its 1,990 students and 250 teachers and staff with the Boomi platform — right from enrollment and onboarding through to exiting the school.

Business Goals

St Laurence’s College (Lauries), a boys’ school for students from Year 5 – 12 was founded in 1915 in Brisbane. As a large secondary college with numerous community groups and user accounts, Lauries data processes evolved to the point where they are similar to that of universities.

As part of its digital transformation strategy, and in keeping student experience front of mind, Lauries wanted to establish data consistency across its hybrid cloud environment, and eliminate time-consuming manual processes.

Integration Challenges

The college found itself managing significant volumes of data across multiple systems, as a result of serving a large cohort of students. Without an existing dedicated integration capability in place, Lauries faced a complex hybrid environment that required staff to handle all data collection and management processes manually.

This caused difficulties in ensuring data consistency across its IT environment, necessitated time-consuming manual handling and introduced the risk of human error.

How Boomi Helped

Lauries selected the Boomi platform to integrate its on-premises and cloud-based applications. Boomi’s integration platform as a service links the college’s human resources, finance, and school management systems, alongside a growing number of cloud-based applications.

The platform maintains all data between these systems and Microsoft Azure and Active Directory, with built-in data validation to notify staff of any conflicts in account data. With a connected technology environment, Lauries has a centralized database that ensures data consistency across all systems.

Results

The Boomi platform enabled Lauries to overcome challenges in accurately collecting and managing the vast information sets it requires throughout its students’ learning journeys.

Boomi automated all manual workflows in the background, helping save an entire IT staff member’s workload, which is now better spent on higher value projects to drive better outcomes for students and teachers.
