Data is the currency of modern business, but the way valuable information flows throughout your business is primarily dependent upon application programming interfaces (APIs). These are the transactional gateways connecting disparate systems, ensuring the smooth data transfer for all digital interactions.
The role of APIs has grown exponentially with the rise of AI. APIs empower autonomous agents with the data and services they need to take action, achieve powerful outcomes, and unlock new levels of competitive advantage for organizations across all industries.
We’re honored and thrilled that the newly released 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management1 named Boomi as a Leader in this business-critical category for our ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision for the Boomi Enterprise Platform. We consider our Gartner recognition a significant milestone in our journey to help companies shift from digital to agentic transformation.

Boomi’s Trajectory
This report comes on the heels of Boomi being named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS)2, our 11th consecutive time in the report’s Leaders Quadrant.
Boomi is the only vendor to be positioned as a Leader back-to-back in 2025 in these vital categories. In our opinion, Boomi’s platform strategy is exactly what businesses need to reduce efficiency-sapping fragmentation and complexity while setting the stage to leap forward in this emerging era of agent-powered business operations.
We’ve worked tirelessly to build a unified, all-in-one platform for our customers that provides the foundational pieces necessary for supporting successful AI initiatives: integration and automation, API management, data management, and agent management. These broad capabilities within a single platform enable connected systems and automated workflows that ensure trustworthy, timely data can power the engines of AI models and agents.
Boomi’s modern API management plays a pivotal role by providing a systematic approach for building, publishing, and managing APIs across their full lifecycle, making them reliable and readily available for agents to consume. You can utilize robust security, centralized traffic control, and dynamic policy enforcement – all with flexible deployment options across Boomi and third-party gateways.
We recognize that APIs are fueling the AI revolution. Some of the factors we believe contributed to our positioning as a Leader in this evaluation include:
Strategic Acquisitions
Two acquisitions in 2024 added new capabilities, bringing federated API management and Enterprise scale to Boomi customers. Acquiring APIIDA’s federated API management business addresses the growing problem of API sprawl. Boomi provides a single control plane to govern any API, no matter who created it. This ensures governance, visibility, and value.
We also strengthened enterprise-grade scalability and security by acquiring the former Mashery API management assets. Those attributes give Boomi customers access to an enterprise-class, high-performance API platform with near-infinite scalability.
Organic Innovation
The groundbreaking Boomi Agentstudio, released early in 2025, is a one-stop solution for procuring, creating, discovering, managing, and securing agents. Boomi’s API management capabilities are a foundational component for helping to provide end-to-end agent lifecycle governance, preparing businesses to harness the power of these digital assets that can independently accomplish tasks within their operations.
What You Need to Know
The report noted that “AI is transforming API management, fueling innovation and new security and governance demands. This Magic Quadrant evaluates 17 vendors, providing software engineering leaders with a guide to adopting advanced solutions for agile, resilient API ecosystems.” Gartner research found that the API management market grew at a rate of 12.6% in 2004, generating $3.88 billion in revenue, which indicates organizations recognize it as a must-have capability.
Gartner wrote: “APIs modernize IT architectures. They provide context, tools and resources to generative and agentic AI programs and provide access to systems, services, partners and data services. API management tools enable organizations to plan, deploy, secure, operate, version control and retire APIs, regardless of their size, region or industry.”
API management is critical for business success. Data has little value if trapped within individual systems – like islands separated by a vast sea. These systems need the connectivity layer that APIs provide to ensure data moves where needed within sprawling digital architectures.
Still, recent prominent research has shown that enterprises are struggling to find a return on investment with AI and that projects are getting stuck in pilot mode. A significant roadblock is that many businesses aren’t making data easily accessible for AI models and agents.
With that in mind, the new 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management is a valuable resource for helping businesses understand key market trends and make more informed decisions about the best API solution for their needs.
We believe that Boomi is the only enterprise-ready platform that can discover, govern, and manage agents and all the tools they use, like APIs, to align those tools with real business needs. When enterprises transform their APIs into strategic assets, they can finally achieve their AI aspirations.
