Published May 24, 2025

This article recaps the Boomi Platform May 2025 release and highlights recently delivered product features. For a full list of what’s included in the release, see the detailed release notes.

Let’s take a look at the highlights in this release:

API Management

Our May release brings major new enhancements for API Management in the areas of API security, faster API design, and more granular control with the introduction of the Infrastructure Manager role, as well as expanded GraphQL support.

The Boomi API Gateway has introduced end-to-end GraphQL support, enabling users to create API Proxies to GraphQL endpoints; configure a GraphQL-specific threat protection policy that enforces depth, complexity, and recursion limits; publish these services to the gateway’s developer portal; and interact with the services in an embedded GraphQL browser. In addition, the gateway is providing more granular control for different personas, introducing an Infrastructure Manager role with the ability to deploy and manage gateways as well as deploy APIs to those gateways with associated plans and auth mechanisms. This enables separation of concerns between design-time configuration and production deployments.

The API Control Plane is accelerating the early API lifecycle with rapid API design, leveraging our API Design Agent. This enables domain experts or integration developers to design APIs that conform to security and quality standards without having to learn YAML and manually define every operation and field. Simply provide the API goals and target personas in natural language, as well as any optional specifics about the entities, operations, key fields, authentication, versioning, error handling, etc. that you’d like to provide, and our agent will fill in the rest with trusted best practices.

We’re also broadening and simplifying our federation capabilities. We’ve introduced a MuleSoft discovery agent to find and manage APIs in MuleSoft Anypoint, we’ve enabled agentless discovery of Boomi API Gateways and any APIs they manage, and we’ve delivered Boomi Marketplace recipes to discover unmanaged APIs with specifications in GitHub or Bitbucket. These integration recipes register the unmanaged APIs in the Control Plane, and are extensible to enable discovery from other sources.

Boomi GPT is now accessible via revision history, allowing users to better understand changes between revisions with the help of AI.

Branch and Merge

The selective merge option has been improved with updated APIs, allowing users to specify which components and their associated revisions to include or exclude during a merge. These improvements will also be available in the merge user interface (UI) in the next platform release coming later this year. Learn more about our Merge APIs at developer.boomi.com.

A few notable quality of life improvements are also being delivered in this release. Users can now click branch names on the Branch Management page to easily navigate to the Build page and continue working on a specific branch.

Clicking component links on the Packaged Components and Deployment pages will now open the component in the branch where it was packaged and deployed, streamlining the workflow.

Development Experience

A pin tabs feature is now available, enabling users to pin frequently used component tabs. This enhancement allows for easier access and saves time by eliminating the need to reopen commonly accessed components.

Integration Runtime

You asked for precise control of user access to the Runtime Management page functionality, and this release delivers! This enhancement allows administrators to align user permissions more closely with typical operational needs. For instance, you can now configure roles with read-only access to production environments while simultaneously granting them access to essential operational controls like scheduling, execution, and persisted properties. This allows users to perform runtime operational management without unnecessary broader permissions.

Additionally, an early access program for OpenTelemetry will soon be available, significantly improving runtime and execution monitoring. This feature will allow native configuration of runtimes to stream real-time telemetry data — including application metrics, logs, and execution traces — to preferred third-party monitoring platforms. Stay informed about program availability through the community.

DataHub

This month’s DataHub release delivers significant enhancements focused on improving data quality processes, increasing platform resilience during critical operations, expanding foundational data support for global businesses, and boosting efficiency for high-volume synchronization.

Streamlined Ambiguous Match Diagnostics

Understanding and resolving ambiguous matches is now faster and more transparent.

  • Enhanced Diagnostics via API: The Match Entities API endpoint now includes an ambiguousMatchSampleSize parameter. This allows developers and data stewards to retrieve detailed samples of ambiguous matches directly via the API, significantly accelerating the testing, diagnosis, and refinement of complex match rules, leading to faster improvements in data accuracy and reduced troubleshooting time.

Enhanced Deployment Safety with Source Guardrails

Protecting the integrity of your master data during model evolution is paramount. DataHub now includes critical guardrails to significantly reduce risks associated with model changes:

  • Preventing Orphaned Records: DataHub proactively prevents model deployments, configuration reversions, or source deletions that could leave golden records without any contributing source linkage. This safeguard ensures data lineage remains intact and protects the business value derived from complete and well-managed master data by avoiding accidental data integrity issues during critical maintenance or enhancement activities.

Expanded Character Support (Strategic Rollout)

DataHub is enhancing text data capabilities for modern, global character sets:

  • 4-Byte UTF-8 Rollout: We are progressively enabling full 4-byte UTF-8 encoding support across Hub clouds, starting with USA East Hub Cloud 02. This allows storage of a wider range of characters (including international symbols and emojis) and improves matching. This initiative future-proofs the platform, replacing the older 3-byte encoding.
  • Note: This impacts model size; review Best practices for designing models.

Boost Synchronization Efficiency with Early Delta Detection

Leverage Early Delta Detection to significantly improve throughput, especially for high-volume data loads:

  • Optimize Processing and Gain Visibility: Streamline synchronization by intelligently filtering out records with no modifications since the last check, reducing overhead and speeding up updates. Users with Historical Reporting access can now also see the count of transactions processed using this feature, providing concrete visibility into its efficiency gains.
  • Easy Activation: Enable this performance-boosting feature simply by selecting the Enable early delta detection setting on a model’s inbound source configuration to start optimizing your high-volume synchronizations.

Platform Usability and Stability Improvements

This release also includes enhancements to improve the user experience and platform reliability:

  • Easier Navigation: Accessing Command Center and Data Integration is now more convenient with dedicated links available from any DataHub page, opening these tools in new browser tabs.
  • Core Functionality Fixes: Issues related to restoring quarantined records with Accelerated Query, handling channel updates with outbound integrity checks, data purging, and log ordering have been resolved, leading to a more stable and reliable platform experience.
