This article recaps the Boomi Platform January 2025 release and highlights recently delivered product features. For a full list of what’s included in the release, see the detailed release notes.
Let’s take a look at the highlights in this release.
API Management
The API Gateway is now available in a container form factor to enable more flexible deployment and scale. Gateways can be deployed and managed in Kubernetes or by Docker Compose.
The API Gateway is also introducing new policies for mediation, customization, and integration:
- JSON to JSON policy – Apply a transformation on the request or response content.
- JSON to XML policy – Transform JSON content to XML content.
- REST to SOAP policy – Expose a SOAP backend service as a REST API.
- HTML to JSON policy – Transform HTML response content to JSON.
- Groovy policy – Run a Groovy script to execute custom policy behavior at any stage of message processing.
- Traffic shadowing policy – Asynchronously copy API traffic to another service. Requests are duplicated and sent to the target URL.
The API Control Plane now supports API creation using a manually uploaded OpenAPI specification that does not have to be registered in a supported platform or discovered by an agent.
Boomi AI
This release includes AI features designed to enhance user efficiency. We’ve launched a new agent, Boomi Resolve, and rolled out enhancements to Boomi Answers and Scribe.
Boomi Resolve: The new Boomi Resolve agent empowers users to resolve errors faster and streamline workflows within process reporting. Leveraging Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and advanced Large Language Models (LLMs), the AI agent interprets error stacks, generates precise troubleshooting steps, and provides links to the latest help and community knowledge base articles. The Resolve agent leverages 148 times more help and community articles than the legacy Resolve feature.
Boomi Answers: We’ve significantly enhanced Boomi Answers with better context, detail, and response accuracy. We’ve used RAG techniques to provide enhanced context — sometimes reconstructing the input prompt to reduce hallucinations — and updated the output format from plain text to markdown for better organization and readability.
Boomi Scribe: We’ve released a few enhancements to Boomi Scribe in the integration canvas. You can now document any integration version and branch you are currently viewing on the Integration canvas. Scribe in the integration canvas now documents process schedules for integrations.
B2B/EDI
Our Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) client connector is now generally available! This new connector simplifies integration with FHIR-compliant systems, promoting efficient and secure data exchanges among healthcare providers and stakeholders. The connector also greatly improves the user experience challenges associated with connecting to FHIR systems using other connectors such as the HTTP client connector.
For more information about the connector, please visit the dedicated help topic.
Connectivity
This month we have introduced numerous enhancements to our connectors:
- Amazon Selling Partner: The query operation in Amazon Selling Partner Connector has been enhanced to support a number of new object types with built in pagination for batch fetch.
- Database v2: We’ve made updates to improve the performance of the INSERT action in Database v2 connector across all four supported databases: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL.
- MQTT: We have enhanced the MQTT Connector to support sending large messages. The default size is now 1MB, with the flexibility to override that default (up to 256MB) through a container property.
- Snowflake: We have updated the Snowflake connector to support database and schema as overrideable operation properties. This enhancement allows you to connect to multiple databases and schemas within the same Snowflake instance using a single connection.
- HubSpot CRM: We have a new HubSpot CRM Connector, now generally available This connector currently supports Contacts and Companies object types, with plans to soon include Deals, Goals, and Tickets. Please note, the HubSpot CRM (Tech Preview) connector will be hidden and no longer available for new users.
Event Streams
Event Streams is now available in the GBR cloud (London), to support customers in the UK and Ireland who require greater control over data residency and improved latency. This new cloud joins the existing Event Streams clouds already available in North America (US East), EMEA (Frankfurt) and ANZ (Sydney) regions.
Boomi for SAP
The Boomi for SAP v1.8 release introduces enhancements aimed at improving integration capabilities:
- Description Field for Services: A new description field has been added for services, including Tables, Function Modules (FM), and Data Wizard, allowing for better documentation and clarity in service configurations.
- Rename Services: Users can now rename Table services and Function Modules, enhancing flexibility in service management.
- Copy a Service: The functionality to copy Table services and Function Modules has been introduced, streamlining service duplication.
- FM Service Batching: The FM service batching functionality will facilitate the sequencing of Function Modules (FMs), enhancing flexibility and efficiency when making calls to SAP.
- Boomi Event Streams Integration: Boomi Event Streams has been added as one of the standard receiver types, providing more options for event-driven architectures.
Task Automation
Our no-code Task Automation solution will officially be generally available this month! This powerful tool is designed to streamline your workflows and boost productivity by automating tedious tasks effortlessly. For more details, click here. We encourage you to share your feedback to help us refine and improve the experience.
Integration
Our branch and merge feature has been updated with new privileges to give administrators greater access control.
- Branch Create and Modify Access: Allows for the creation and editing of branches via the UI and API.
- Branch Delete Access: Allows for the deletion of branches via the UI and API.
Additionally, the Administrator role has been updated to include Branch Create and Modify Access and Branch Delete Access privileges. The Build Read Access privilege now also grants the ability to view the Branch Management page and branches on the Build page.
Subsequent releases will enhance access control by introducing privileges that restrict build and merge capabilities exclusively to non-main branches.
The Integration build experience has also been improved with four highly requested enhancements:
- Profile Search: A new search bar has been added to all profiles, making it easier to find specific elements.
- Expand/Collapse All Elements: Profile elements with child elements can now be expanded or collapsed using two new context menu options. These options streamline navigation by eliminating the need to manually click through each nested element individually
- Rearrange Tabs: The tabs on the Build page can now be reordered by dragging and dropping them, allowing users to organize their workspace for quicker access and improved workflow efficiency.
Boomi DataHub
We are excited to announce the launch of significant enhancements to DataHub. Enhancements include a completely redesigned dashboard experience and the introduction of our new Command Center powered by ServiceNow. This release focuses on modernizing data visualization, improving golden record management, and enhancing the overall user experience. Highlights include:
- New Command Center with ServiceNow Integration
Transform your data management with our new Command Center, offering a dynamic 360-degree visualization of golden records. This powerful addition enables business stakeholders to gain deeper insights into data context and quality, while fostering better collaboration across teams. The enhanced golden record view streamlines governance processes and accelerates informed decision-making. As we roll out the Command Center to DataHub accounts and activate users as part of Limited Availability, we look forward to evolving its capabilities based on your feedback and use cases. - Modernized Dashboard Experience
The DataHub dashboard has been completely redesigned with a modern interface that provides clearer visibility into your data operations. The new design features intuitive visualizations for active golden records, quarantined entities, and pending activities. A standout addition is the new date picker functionality, allowing users to track trends and changes over custom time periods, from daily snapshots to annual comparisons. Users can now customize their experience with three distinct views — across all repositories and models, specific repository/model combinations, or specific repositories with all models — and set their preferred default view for streamlined daily workflows. - Enhanced Model Management Safety
We’ve added important safeguards to the model publication process. Users now receive clear warnings when publishing new model versions that would impact existing source configurations, ensuring intentional and informed decisions about data model changes.
Platform
This release includes two Audit Logs APIs, one new and one improved.
Audit Logs Bulk Downloads API (New)
You can now download bulk audit logs in a single link instead of making multiple stacked API requests. The data will be processed in the background, and you can set up email notifications to be informed when the download is ready.
Audit Log Service (Improved)
Several improvements have been made to the existing Audit Log Service, including:
- All logs now default to HTTPS and encryption for enhanced security.
- Improvements in resilience and performance when downloading logs
- Role-related audit logs now include the ROLE_NAME, ensuring that each audit log event entry includes both the ROLE_ID and the corresponding role name.
- Changes to role names will now be recorded in role-related audit logs, helping to maintain a clear history of role name modifications.
For more information on the Audit Log API check out our documentation.
