Meta Hub: From Meaning To Dependencies
In March we launched Boomi Meta Hub to fix a specific problem. AI agents hit a reasoning wall: without endorsed business context, they make context-free guesses that lead to hallucinations. Ask an agent to flag every active customer for renewal outreach, and it has no way to know that sales, operations, and finance each define that term differently.
Business glossaries closed that gap, and they are now available to all existing Boomi customers. Your experts define key terms, endorse them, and link them to the technical assets they describe. Agents fetch the endorsed definition instead of guessing.
Knowing what a term means is one half of context. The other half is knowing where the data behind it came from, and what depends on it, also known as data lineage.
Introducing Universal Lineage
Universal Lineage maps end-to-end data flows to show where data originates and how it is used across the platform. Lineage in Meta Hub is design-time, so the graph reflects how your platform is configured rather than only what ran last night.
Lineage starts where the dependencies are densest: Boomi Data Hub, where golden records are assembled from many contributing sources. The graph builds as models are deployed, so it reflects your configuration from Early Access forward. Data Hub lineage is available from Early Access, and an open ingest API brings in lineage from systems outside Boomi.
Eliminate Technical Blind Spots
Without lineage, teams work from stale assumptions. Developers are slow to update legacy integrations because they cannot see the downstream consequences of a change. The result is change paralysis.
Universal Lineage answers two questions, pointing in opposite directions:
- Impact analysis looks forward: before you modify a field or an integration, see what depends on it.
- Root cause analysis looks backward: when a value looks wrong, trace it back through its contributing sources to where it entered your landscape.
Traceability for Agents
Lineage also changes what an agent can show you. Ask an agent about a golden record and it will be able to walk the lineage graph and return that path alongside its answer.
