Terex Relies on Boomi API Management to Seamlessly Connect Dealers, Partners, Suppliers, and Internal Teams
Global manufacturer uses Boomi APIM to reduce development and deployment time for APIs that automate and simplify business-critical tasks across its extended organization
Terex’s Aerial Work Platforms and Materials Processing businesses have grown substantially over the last decade. This put increasing pressure on point-to-point integrations linking company systems. In 2014, Boomi was brought in to simplify integration complexity. Now, Terex is focused on Boomi’s API management (APIM) capabilities, which are part of the unified Boomi platform.
Boomi APIM allows Terex to pursue an API-first strategy, which can help solve various use cases involving new uses of data for business users, dealers, and other stakeholders.
Herausforderungen bei der Integration
Terex uses the Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) as its “mothership” application. Prior to Boomi, every system that needed to exchange data with EBS did so via point-to-point integrations. As the number and size of the company’s systems grew, integration complexity, development time, and maintenance increased dramatically.
Boomi allowed Terex to easily consolidate its integration requirements in a single platform, knowing that all systems would have consistent, unfettered access to accurate, trusted data for essential business functions.
Wie Boomi geholfen hat
One process common to all businesses is order creation. So, using Boomi APIM, Terex enterprise integration architect Bobby Newell and his team started work on an order-create API that would allow users to create orders from any client application.
An order-create API can facilitate self-service for customers and dealers while eliminating the need for more cumbersome methods of executing orders such as phone, fax and email. This drives down cost, improves customer sentiment, and leads to better customer outcomes.
For Terex, the API-first strategy enabled by Boomi APIM delivers several benefits, including:
- Increased reuse, eliminating the need to launch individual projects to create end-to-end solutions for every use case
- Streamlined and simplified development supports new functions and services
- A library of functionality via APIs enables stakeholders to quickly build portals or apps that add value for customers, suppliers, developers or internal teams
For example, the API supported dealer portal notifies dealers when machine maintenance is due on customer equipment.
Boomi leverages Amazon EC2 to ensure our design, development, and management platform is highly available. This allows our customers to build, manage and monitor their solutions reliably, from any web browser.
