Leading railway infrastructure parts provider revamps its IT architecture with a cloud-based, fully integrated central ERP system
Obiettivi
SATEBA, the leading European designer and supplier of concrete railway parts, wanted to overhaul its information systems both to accelerate growth and to develop sustainable railway solutions in support of decarbonization initiatives.
Operating in ten European countries, SATEBA wanted to harmonize all its processes and ensure the implementation of common tools for its 16 production sites and its engineering center, without spending months or years of effort.
Le sfide tecnologiche
The new information systems architecture included a centralized IFS ERP and an entire ecosystem of external and in-house solutions, as well as new computer and network systems.
The main challenge for SATEBA’s IT department was guaranteeing the operational continuity of the group’s 16 production sites during its infrastructure modernization. Many of the group’s 1,000 employees are deployed in the field, and it was critical to ensure the ~230 centralized platform users had connectivity and data access to support these team members.
Il ruolo di Boomi
With the low-code Boomi Enterprise Platform, SATEBA can easily build and integrate a variety of frameworks. The pre-built connectivity between Boomi and IFS and applications has helped optimize the creation of workflows through projections and custom fields.
SATEBA began with a pilot phase in Finland, which was completed in less than six months. Now, the group is duplicating the infrastructure overhaul in Estonia and France, and plans to extend the new model to the rest of the group’s sites as well as its engineering and testing center.
Risultati
Today, more than 25 interface flows are executed daily in Finland, 20 of them in real time. The Boomi Enterprise Platform receives customer orders via EDI. Through integration flows, Boomi ensures manufacturing orders in Microsoft PowerApps are sent to a third-party system and enables follow-up in different workshops. The different sleeper systems are stored and located in the yard, can be shipped and will be tracked through identification systems and simplified inventory.
Boomi leverages Amazon EC2 to ensure our design, development, and management platform is highly available. This allows our customers to build, manage and monitor their solutions reliably, from any web browser.
