- Visionary Placement: Boomi is positioned as a Visionary in the inaugural 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for AI Agent Management Platforms (AMPs).
- Centralized AI Governance: Boomi Agent Control Plane provides a vendor-neutral platform to connect, govern, and secure multi-platform AI agents at scale.
- Why Governance Matters: With AI agent adoption projected to grow exponentially by 2030, unified governance ensures security, data compliance, and cost control.
A core philosophy has driven Boomi throughout our history: connection. We pioneered cloud-native integration so that businesses could securely and reliably move the data that runs their day-to-day operations.
That foundation of connectivity is why, with the rapid rise of AI, we saw what would come next.
We anticipated that as businesses rushed to deploy AI agents, they would struggle to secure connections to their applications and data sources while implementing proper guardrails. That’s why we designed Agent Control Plane to integrate enterprise systems with AI tools, govern AI agent actions, and contain runaway costs.
We believe Gartner® has validated this work. We’re proud to be named a Visionary in the introductory Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for AI Agent Management Platforms.1
Our view on the critical need to govern agent activity aligns with the Gartner definition of this new category.
Gartner describes Agent Management Platforms (AMPs) as “centralized software platforms that manage AI agents independent of where they are deployed. These platforms enable organizations to oversee both custom-built and marketplace-acquired agents. They provide a unified interface to manage agent costs and ROI, and provide a unified view of governance and security controls.”
Gartner also noted that “by 2029, 60% of AI agents will be managed by an agent management platform, transforming agentic AI governance into a growth driver by instilling confidence in greater levels of AI autonomy.” The analyst firm expects enterprise agent fleets to scale exponentially from under 15 agents per Fortune 500 company in 2025 to over 150,000 in 2030.
We believe this is because governance instills the confidence businesses need before allowing greater agentic autonomy. We also believe Boomi can help enterprises secure AI agent activity as the need for AI agent governance grows.
More Than iPaaS
As Boomi’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, I’m always thrilled when a trusted analyst firm such as Gartner positions us in one of their market categories. But this one feels especially momentous because of the way AI agents are changing everything about how businesses operate.
Our lineage is iPaaS (integration platform as a service), where we’ve long been an acknowledged Leader.2 We’ve helped more than 30,000 global businesses of all sizes and across every industry connect systems and automate workflows. Our agnostic platform can connect to any system. We integrate them regardless of where they reside – in the cloud, behind firewalls, or a combination of both. We also provide unified capabilities across API management, data management, and B2B/EDI, enabling businesses to consolidate their technology stacks.
That’s the bedrock foundation of Boomi. Now, we’ve extended our traditional strengths into autonomous AI workloads.
Businesses are adjusting to a world where they have (or will soon have) hundreds, thousands, or even more AI agents operating within their organizations. Those AI agents will be created on different platforms with different protocols. They will work differently. And the vendors that create them will understandably be focused on providing governance for their AI agents – not necessarily for other AI agents.
Because AI is moving so quickly, businesses are only discovering the difficulty of managing these small armies of heterogeneous AI agents once they’re in use. That’s when they realize that the ability to deploy AI agents has far outpaced their ability to govern them.
At Boomi, we see it as a connectivity problem, and we know how to solve that.
Boomi’s View of Governance
Connecting systems is about normalizing disparate systems that follow different protocols. We apply those same principles to help our customers manage their growing suite of AI agents by standardizing this heterogeneous world. Boomi provides visibility and control so that when AI agents connect to enterprise systems, they access only verified data and all their actions are closely monitored. Some of our principles include:
- Vendor- and Model-Neutrality: Boomi reduces the need to manage AI agents across multiple platforms. Agent Control Plane allows businesses to oversee all their AI agents – regardless of who made them – from a single location, mitigating sprawl. The platform enables registering AI agents from more than 30 platforms.
- Distributed Runtime: Boomi’s decoupled architecture, which separates the control plane from the execution plane, allows AI agents to run on-premises, in private clouds, or within customer-hosted environments. At a time when data sovereignty restrictions are mounting, that flexibility helps businesses meet global security and auditability rules by keeping sensitive data entirely within local boundaries.
- Unified Platform: Boomi provides a control plane to discover, connect, and secure AI agents as they access business data by unifying their oversight with API connectivity and data management. Not only does that provide a “single pane of glass,” but it also reduces the need for separate middleware and security tools.
In the past, IT security focused on preventing unauthorized access to systems. But governance is much more complicated when AI agents are involved. Businesses want to allow access. But that’s only if it’s authorized, the AI agents (or the humans they represent) are identified, their activity is clearly defined, and there are audit trails of what they do.
Boomi gives businesses the infrastructure needed to track, manage, and secure AI agents so they access only the right data and take action only within their designated scope.
Rethinking AI Agent Governance
This new Gartner category is important because it suggests that businesses reconsider their approach to AI agent governance in a more centralized, standardized way to improve security and observability. Otherwise, ungoverned AI agent connections to data will pose a danger as enterprises deploy AI agents at scale.
Accessing the proper data from core systems is how AI agents make good decisions and take the right actions. At Boomi, we believe governing access helps businesses have greater confidence in AI agents’ actions. That’s how you build trust.
We’ve always been advocates of unified governance of AI agents, and we’re pleased to see that Gartner shares this view of its importance.
