With student enrollment rising rapidly each year, Universidad Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO) in 2017 embarked on cloud-first IT modernization and digital transformation to help provide a quality higher education for 110,000 students in Colombia.
Affordability, simplicity, and business agility across IT systems are critical for the nonprofit university to deliver end-to-end digital services to students and staff across 68 locations. UNIMINUTO is achieving those objectives with the help of Boomi and Boomi partner SQDM, an IT consultancy based in Bogotá.

UNIMINUTO faced high costs, complexity, and delays in using a legacy on-premises enterprise service bus (ESB) to connect systems including SAP for financials, SAP SuccessFactors for HR, and an Ellucian Banner student information system (SIS).
With an ambitious agenda for ongoing digital transformation, UNIMINUTO engaged SQDM as a “strategic ally” in identifying a modern integration platform better suited to its goals of delivering seamless digital experiences, accelerating IT service delivery, reducing costs, and improving operational efficiency in IT and administration.

Replacing the legacy ESB with Boomi, UNIMINUTO has expanded digital services for students and staff while dramatically improving IT productivity in developing and managing integrations. Boomi helps automate online admissions and course enrollment, replacing manual paper-based processes.
UNIMINUTO has also digitized payments, financial settlement, and transcript access, saving manual work and accelerating cash flow. With 47 Boomi integrations across about 12 cloud and on-premises applications, transaction processing times are 50 percent faster and data accuracy has improved, improving efficiency and collaboration.
