Boomi AtomSphere Spring ’10 Extends Enterprise SOA to the Cloud With Industry’s First Cloud-Based, Real-Time Integration Broker

New Release Provides Critical Missing Link Between SOA and Cloud Computing
BERWYN, PA–(Marketwire – March 16, 2010) – Boomi®, the Integration Cloud Company™, today announced the release of AtomSphere Spring ’10, the newest version of its flagship integration platform, Boomi AtomSphere®. AtomSphere Spring ’10 features the industry’s first cloud-based, real-time integration broker and now supports both loosely-coupled and point-to-point integration architectures. This is the 10th major release of the industry’s leading integration platform-as-a-service since its initial launch in 2007.

The real-time integration functionality is enabled through the connect.boomi.com integration broker and is accomplished with no changes required to firewall security. Enterprises can now confidently extend their SOA to the cloud to integrate any combination of SaaS, cloud and on-premises applications in a real-time, loosely-coupled fashion. This enhancement supports increased cloud services adoption by large enterprises and addresses a major requirement of Boomi’s community, as well as the IT industry at large, by providing the missing link between SOA and cloud computing.

“As enterprises continue to adopt cloud-based services, the ability to integrate data between applications in real-time, regardless of where that data originates, is a requirement for providing the value and return promised by cloud computing,” said Rick Nucci, Boomi CTO. “This release addresses a major need in the marriage of SOA and cloud computing and reflects our continued commitment to lead innovation in the cloud integration space.”

For those applications (either in the cloud or on-premises) that do not currently have a web service, Boomi has included a new service with AtomSphere Spring ’10 called Web Service Publishing. Web Service Publishing allows Boomi customers to turn any integration process into a web service that can then be deployed on premise or into Boomi’s cloud. Web services deployed in Boomi’s cloud can be dynamically invoked (either directly or in conjunction with popular API management tools such as Mashery) by any cloud or on-premises application through connect.boomi.com. All web services, whether deployed on premise or in the cloud, are then managed from one central location in AtomSphere to help extend and strengthen existing governance policies.

“Creating web services from legacy systems allows enterprises to turn siloed data stores into valuable corporate assets,” said Jeffrey M. Kaplan, Managing Director of THINKstrategies Inc. and Founder of the SaaS Showplace. “These assets can then be used internally to drive greater return on investments in existing systems or externally by monetizing information as part of the new data economy that is rapidly evolving in the cloud.”

Many of the updates and additions to this version of AtomSphere were based on input from the Boomi community. With AtomSphere’s native multi-tenant architecture, requests and suggestions from the Boomi community can be rapidly implemented and deployed across the entire network, allowing community members to actively participate in the evolution of AtomSphere. Additional new features in AtomSphere Spring ’10 include:

  • Support for both SOAP and raw HTTP
  • Enhancements to improve resiliency and error rate reduction
  • Stronger process test and debug capabilities
  • Improved/simplified schedule management for batch processes
  • Greatly improved visibility into status of long running/high volume processes
